Edith Mydlarz Obituary

Our Heavenly Father welcomed home His daughter, Edith Cecilia (Treadway) Mydlarz on December 14, 2023. Edith was born Sept 8, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Jane Treadway of Crown Point, NY. Edith married Stephen S. (Steve)  Mydlarz on September 14, 1947. Together they raised six children, one son, Stevie and five daughters, Linda, Debbie, Stephanie, Cindy and Tammy.

Together they had a busy and full life. Edith didn’t like idle hands and she and her husband, Steve, valued the importance of hard work. They were always in pursuit of a better future for themselves and their family. As such they moved from home to home flipping and reselling until they finally built their dream home in Crown Point. Edith had a keen sense of numbers and was a good negotiator. She was a good steward of their finances and she tried to instill the value of saving and investing to her children and grandchildren. However, she was better known for her love of flowers, birds, gardening and cooking. Some of us fondly remember popcorn balls on Christmas Eve or fried cornmeal after church on Sunday. Some of our best memories were skipping rocks in the water at the Lake House or picking flowers in the garden to set on our table. When gardening and cooking became too difficult, her daughters stepped up to make her meals and help around the house. Although, allowing her daughters in her kitchen was difficult, Edith kept busy with the things she could still do. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, or doing her Crossword Puzzles and Word Searches. She made sure her plants were watered and the birds were fed. She enjoyed visits with family and friends and would coax them into helping her complete her newest puzzle. Her favorite puzzle companion though was her neighbor and great grandson Jackson. Together they would spend hours trying to make each piece fit in just right. Moments like this brought her much joy.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, 15 siblings, her husband of 73 years, Stephen S. Mydlarz, her son Stephen E. Mydlarz, her grandchildren: Vincent Frasier, Jonathan Ross, Andrea Ross and Becky Mydlarz.

Survivors include her two brothers, Cyril Treadway and Tommy Treadway, her daughters: Linda (Werner) Knopp, Debbie (Carl) Ross, Stephanie (Michael) Wollman, Cindy (Johnny) Russo, and Tammy (Albert) Gallagher; her grandchildren: Carla (Todd) Malone, Andy (Mindy ) Ross, Marijane (Andrew) Stanley, Jonalee (Alex) Mars, Timothy Wollman, Danny Wollman, Heather (Fred) Dudley, Erin (Jeremy) Sargent, Brittany (Jacob) Sprague, Amanda Mydlarz, Anthony Mydlarz, Kristy (Jimmy) Scheffler, Michael Gallagher, Bryan Gallagher; Great Grandchildren:

Suzette McKenzie Frasier, Ross (Natasha) Malone, Drew Malone, Maria Malone, Mandy Jo Ross, Sawyer Ross, Landon Ross, Benjamin Stanley, Caroline Stanley, Jackson Stanley, Grady Mars, Andrea Dudley, Madison Dudley, Megan Dudley, Abby Sprague, Jaelynn Sprague, Grace McKiernan, Guiliana Mydlarz-Pratt, Jerin Sargent, Kaydin Sargent, Kohin Sargent, Sadie Sargent, Mason Scheffler, Emma Scheffler, Charlee Scheffler; Great Great Grandchildren: Jonathan Malone, Stephen Malone, Evalynn Malone and Laiklyn Gallagher and many special nieces, nephews and family members and her favorite pup, Sandy, whom will miss her dearly.

Edith was surrounded by her girls, and snuggled in a warm, soft blanket as she peacefully returned home to be reunited with her loved ones. We are grateful to have been able to be there with her on this journey.  Although we miss her, we know she is happily celebrating in Heaven and waiting patiently for the day when we come home, too. We can imagine the look on her face when she stepped into her Heavenly dwelling, no need to flip, fix or resell. It will be perfect just for her, filled with all her favorite things. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to High Peaks Hospice, 1247 Dix Ave, Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Per her request there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be performed at a later date after the holidays.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
