Dorothy Bliss, age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2025, at CVPH surrounded by loving family. Born May 13, 1926 to James DeZalia and Mary Bullard DeZalia. She married Lawrence M. Bliss on February 22, 1945 and they had two children, Lawrence and Sheila Borden (Irwin).

Her husband predeceased her in 2015 and her son in 2011 from ALS.

She is survived by a brother Norman (Judith), sister Frances Provoncha, 4 Grandchildren, Keith Lobdell, Laura Bliss Carson (Mike), Sarah Bliss (companion James Hammaker), Melanie Hall (David), 7 Great Grandchildren, Malynda Lobdell (companion William), Lawrence Lobdell (companion Aja), Ella Lobdell, Alex Bliss-Carson (companion Gabe Holland), Michael Carson, Benjamin Carson, Great Great Grandchild Kayce Holland as well as numerous nieces and nephews  and special friend Lillian Lobdell.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, July 23rd at the Essex Congregational Church in Essex at the corner of Rt. 22 and Main Street with a luncheon served immediately thereafter on the bottom floor.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Foundation, the Church or the Lewis Cemetery Association.
