Donna L. (Winterbottom) Cross

Donna L. Cross, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday May 25th, 2023 at Elizabethtown Community Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born August 27th, 1944 to George and Helen Winterbottom of West Chazy, NY. She eventually married the love of her life, Robert Cross on April 28th, 1962. Where they then built their lives together and raised their two boys; Bob and Brian in Mineville.

Donna was an integral piece of our community; always willing to help others in any way possible. She was most known for her talents in the kitchen and will always be remembered for her famous pickles, jam, relish and other baked goods. Donna spent many of her years delivering her personal baked goods as well as Avon to those in local communities for over 50 years. When she wasn’t cooking, she was supporting Moriah sports in all their glory. She could always be found in the bleachers, close to her son; cheering him and his team on.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert Cross. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy (Richard) Laboissiere and Roy Winterbottom and her niece Valerie Bertholf. Donna leaves behind her two boys; Robert (Anne) Cross and Brian (Kelly) Cross. As well as the light of her life; her grandchildren Ryan (Courtney) Cross, Landon (Nicole) Cross, Adam (Shannon) Cross, Lauren Cross and Paul Reynoso. Donna leaves behind her only great-grandchild Brody Cross. Donna also leaves behind her “casino buddy” Diane Bauer who
provided much love and support over the years and in her final days; as well as numerous other friends and close acquaintances. She is predeceased by her parents; Helen and George Winterbottom, her brother Dale and brother Gordon.

We would like to thank the numerous people involved in Donna’s care over the years; friends, family, nurses and healthcare professionals. We would especially like to thank those at Elizabethtown Community Hospital for the sincere support and comfort over the last week. Donna was loved by many, and will be missed dearly by all.

A graveside service will be held at Moriah Union Cemetery on Friday, June 2nd at 11am; a celebration of life will take place at Moriah Country Club directly following the service. All are welcome to come and celebrate this  wonderful woman.
