Debbie Hayes Guerin

“Miss Debbie”

March 15, 1954 – June 30, 2026

Debbie grew up in Buffalo, NY with three sisters and her mother, Eileen O’Brien, who raised them all to be strong Irish women.

Debbie had many accomplishments over her lifetime. She was the most creative and wonderful Mom and Nana and a “one in a million” wife. She was an athlete who helped with supporting Title IX in her high school years, the first person to get a masters degree in her family, and a master gardener. 

Debbie’s lasting impacting will be as “Miss Debbie,” speech therapist extraordinaire, to the children and families of Essex and Clinton counties for over 40 years. She was a pioneer of play-based therapy and gave voices to thousands of children who likely didn’t realize they were in therapy because Miss Debbie was so fun! 

Debbie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ernie Guerin; her daughters, Celina Fuller (Ben) and Katie Hayes; her son, Joseph Guerin (Amanda); her sisters, Cathy Campbell and Mary Eileen Ingraham; her best friend, Diane White; and her beloved granddaughter, Evie Fuller, who was the light of her life.

Debbie and her family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who provided loving care and support during her final years, especially Missy Larrow, Mary Poirier, and Todd Gregory.

In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, she hoped that those who knew her would honor her memory by doing something kind for someone in their community—a simple act of love that reflected the way she lived her life.
