She went on to work as a nutritionist for Cornell Cooperative Extension and later as a coordinator in the Essex County Office for the Aging, where she assisted seniors in accessing essential services within their communities. Her dedication extended through her service as a board member at Moses Ludington Hospital and as a long-term care ombudsperson, advocating for the well-being of others. She also generously volunteered with numerous organizations, including the Chilson Volunteer Fire Department, the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, and St. Mary’s School.
Beyond her professional and volunteer work, Dawn embraced life with creativity and warmth. She was an avid cook and baker, always exploring new recipes and collecting kitchen gadgets. She enjoyed reading romance novels, sewing, crocheting, and drawing. Dawn was devoted to her family, including several foster children and many adopted and rescued pets.
