David Smith

Mr. David Smith, born October 2nd , 1945 in Ticonderoga, New York passed away on December 23rd, 2024, at UVM Elizabethtown Hospital surrounded by his family. 

He is pre-deceased by his father Wilford Smith, mother Marie Maye, and brother Michael Smith (Angie).

David leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Barbara Smith, where they lived in the Moriah, New York.  He also leaves behind his sisters Ella Larmore and Betty Smith (Tom Provoncha), his children Walter Dever (Amy), Kathy Provoncha (Tony), Michael Dever, Philip Dever and Peggy Anson (Bruce Jr). He had 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

David was known to be an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was well known in our community for being seen out “picking bottles” on our country roads.  He was a hard worker who worked many different jobs a laborer in construction, painting,  and at state parks, just to name a few. He is remembered fondly by anyone who knew him, as he usually came up with a funny nickname for everyone he met. Those that knew him, knew him well, as he was quite the talker and loved telling stories.   He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who was known for helping his family any way he could. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.  There will be no services held, but a celebration of life will be planned to be held in the Spring of 2025.
