Beverly (Nels) McCabe

Beverly Nels McCabe, 83, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s house in Gansevoort, NY on July 24, 2023 after a brief illness. 

Beverly was born March 14, 1940 in Mineville, NY to Walter and Elizabeth (Petro) Nels. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Raymond McCabe, son William McCabe and brothers Walter Nels and Edward Nels. 

Beverly is survived by her son Douglas (Pamela) McCabe and daughter Patricia (Philip) Niles. Beverly has 8 grandchildren who adored her. Megan Niles and fiance Chris Matoske, Erica (Austin) Senecal, Kasie McCabe, Kylie (Alex) Shaughnessy, Jacob McCabe and Tessa McCabe. She was also a proud great grandma of 3. She is also survived by her 3 brothers Jack (Kathy) Nels, David (MaryKay) Nels, and Thomas Nels. 

Beverly had a love for many things. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping, especially lawn sales! She loved gardening, mowing her lawn, and cooking. Beverly was a fantastic cook and nobody ever left her house hungry. She was an avid church goer, going to mass every Sunday with her Aunt Anna Wojewodzic. 

Beverly worked at the Ticonderoga Mill for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. She lived her entire life in the town of Moriah, growing up in Mineville, NY. Beverly and Ray bought a house on Lakeview Avenue in Moriah where she spent the last 60 years raising her family. 

Beverly’s family would like to say a special thank you to Jon and Renee Meehan, Jan Bigelow, Jamie Wojewodzic, and John Ingleston. She loved them dearly and they were always there for her. 

Her family requests any donations be made to North Country SPCA in Elizabethtown, NY or Community Hospice in Saratoga Springs, NY. 

A Christian mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry, NY on August 12th, 2023, at 12:00. A burial will follow in St. Patrick’s cemetery in Moriah, NY.
