Bernice Marie (LaRock) Anderson

October 09, 2023, Bernice Marie Anderson (LaRock), 88, of Mineville, NY, passed away
peacefully at Elderwood of Ticonderoga with her daughter Marie, and granddaughters Erica and
Jessica by her side.
Bernice was the youngest daughter of Roy and Verna “Maggie” LaRock, born on Christmas day,
1934, in Peru, NY. Later she met the love of her life, Kenneth “Andy” Anderson, one day while
checking her mail. He was visiting a friend while on leave during active duty for the United
States Navy. From there, their whirlwind romance quickly turned into more, and later they wed
on April, 26th 1953. Together they raised their 4 children, Kenneth Jr, Marie, Mark, and Julie in
Mineville, NY. For many years they tirelessly ran a small dairy farm employing local teens
including their sons, while simultaneously caring for her brother Francis LaRock and mother,
Maggie. Bernice had many different jobs outside of the home, though arguably her favorite
were her years spent in the Finishing Room of International Paper Company, in Ticonderoga.
There she could be found working her shift diligently while also enjoying time during breaks
drinking coffee, playing Pitch, telling jokes and having fun. Although it was clear to anyone that
knew her, her best times were spent with the love of her life, Andy. Upon retirement they fulfilled
their “bucket-list” of traveling to Alaska, Tennessee, and Florida. Along the way they made
friends and lifelong memories of doing what they loved most. In her most recent years Bernice
lived a more quiet life attending church services, taking rides with Andy and their sidekick “Toby
Junior” their beloved dog.
Bernice is predeceased by her father and mother Roy and Verna “Maggie” LaRock, brother,
Francis “Bugs” LaRock, brother, Larry “Duck” LaRock, brother, Cliff “Wimp” LaRock, sister,
Charlotte Ober (LaRock), daughter-in-law, Diane Anderson, and lastly her daughter, Julie A.
Ashline (Anderson).
Bernice leaves behind her beloved husband, Andy of 70 years, her children Kenneth Jr.
(Lynn)Anderson, Marie Anderson, and Mark Anderson. Her grandchildren, Melissa Celotti,
Erica Sadowski (Dan), Nick Anderson (Janiece), Stacey Anderson (Andy), Jessica Charron
(Joseph), Mallory Fanning, and Mark Ashline Jr (Elizabeth). She also leaves behind many great
grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be
made to the Moriah Ambulance Squad.
