Barbara M. (French) Urban

Barbara Minnie (French) Urban, of Moriah Center, NY passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 8, 2020 surrounded by family at the Theresian House at the age of 91. 

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Moriah Center and lived in the home she was born in on November 10, 1928.  She graduated Valedictorian of her 1945 class at Sherman Free Academy and soon met and married her soulmate Joseph John Urban in 1947.  They were married for 39 loving years until his passing in 1986.  She was a founding member of the Moriah Ambulance Auxiliary, and actively volunteered at the All Saints Catholic Church, Voting and other various organizations.  She also worked part time at various places including Frontier Town and the US Post Office.

She is the youngest of 5, with four older brothers, Carl, Robert (Bud), Lewis, and Lyle French.  She is survived by her sons, Joseph M. Urban and his wife Donna of Moriah, David P. Urban of Prescott Valley, AZ, and sister-in-law Grace French of Witherbee.  She has three grandchildren, David J. Urban and his fiancé Jennifer Lindstrom of Coxsackie, Anne M. Urban of Saratoga, and Joseph A. Urban of Moriah, along with three great grandchildren (Alexis, Jordan, and Brayson). 

Her family and friends were what she treasured the most.  She will be remembered for her ever-present smile, generous heart, and kind soul.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday 2/12/2020 at All Saints Church in Mineville, NY.  Interment in the Moriah Catholic Community Cemetery will be in the Spring.
