Anita J. (Lavin) Lahendro

Anita J. Lahendro, 93, of Mineville, NY passed away on December 18, 2021.
She was born December 10, 1928 the daughter of Anthony and Nellie Lavin.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, Frank Lahendro, on March 20, 2003;
sisters, Thelma and her husband, Martin Chapuk, and Inez and her husband, Wayne
Putnam, and nephew, Tom Putnam.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Kathy) of Potsdam, daughter, Diane
(Duane) Brown of Saratoga Springs, and daughter, Susan (Marty) Nephew of
Witherbee; grandchildren, Meagan and Andy (Lauren) Brown and Travis Nephew, and
great grandchildren, Avery Nephew and Landon and Rosie Brown. In addition, Anita is
survived by step grandchildren, Terry (Krista) Francis, Angela (Jackson) Shatraw and
Adam (Alicia) Francis; and step great grandchildren: Elijah, Jocelynne, Julianna,
Isabella, Kyle, London and Luke.
Anita was a graduate of Mineville High School and Albany Business College.
She worked in Albany for several years and then returned to Mineville to work for
Republic Steel before raising her children.
Anita spent a great deal of time volunteering as a life member of the Mineville
VFW Ladies Auxiliary and for the Mineville High School Alumni Association as well as
numerous other community organizations.
She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club, and
looked forward to playing cards with her friends each week.
The family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice for the excellent care they
provided their mother.
At Anita’s request there will be no public calling hours. There will be a funeral
mass on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry
at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice or to the Mineville VFW Post 5802.
