Theresa M. (Hudon) Montagnola

Theresa M. (Hudon) Montagola, 101, a longtime resident of Moriah, NY died peacefully in her home of natural causes on May 27, 2019.  She was surrounded by her family, and loving caregivers.

Theresa was born in St. Anne De Stukely, Quebec on March 17, 1918 to Oscar and Cora Hudon.  She was the oldest of 6 children.

Theresa is survived by her 6 children, 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings.  Helen (Kazlo) Montagnola of Port Henry, NY; Catherine Kazlo of Hudson, NY; Joseph (Anne Marie) Kazlo of Moriah, NY;  Martha Montagnola of Saranac Lake, NY; Stephen (Becky) Montagnola Jr. of Oswego, NY; Michelle (Thomas) Montagnola of Ray Brook, NY.  Her siblings Martha (Daniel) Bolduc of Seminole, FL; Daniel (Wilma) Hudon of Remsen, NY;  Omer (Rosemary) Hudon of Remsen, NY. 

She was predeceased by Oscar and Cora Hudon, Paul (Margaret) Hudon, Maurice Hudon, her first husband Joseph P. Kazlo, her late husband Stephen J. Montagnola, and children Margaret Kazlo, John (Patricia) Kazlo.

Theresa was a devoted wife and mother  who could be always be found in her kitchen, canning tomatoes or baking bread. An avid quilter, Theresa had a quilt in progress all the times.  She lovingly gifted quilts to all her children and grandchildren. 

A valuable member of the community, Theresa was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Patrick’s Church.  She was also a member of the Woman’s Veterans Auxiliary and a Eucharist Minister for many years at St. Patrick’s church.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.   A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 3rd , 10:00 am at St Patricks Church in Port Henry.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s cemetery.  In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital. To leave condolences for the family please visit www.harlandfuneralhome.com.
