Kenneth A. Gadway, 71, of Mineville, NY passed away at UVM Health Network at Elizabethtown Community Hospital on September 6, 2018, following a brief illness. Born in Mooers Forks, NY on January 17, 1947, he was one of four children born to the late Theresa (Nephew) and Arthur Gadway. He graduated from Mineville High School in 1967 and worked for International Paper in a career that spanned 41 years, before retiring in 2008.
Ken married the love of his life, Deborah Collins, in 1991. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins. Ken, along with his brothers, was often the life of the party at family gatherings. He leaves behind many fond memories of trips to Fenway Park and long talks around the table.
Ken is survived by his wife, Deborah, their four children and their companions: Eric Gadway & Amy Jordan, of Fort Ann, NY; Erin & Patrick South, of Dunkirk, MD; Amy Garvey, of Willsboro, NY; and Stephen Gadway & Angela Simard, of Mineville, NY; eight grandchildren: Leah, Alexa, Cora, Eric Jr, Gavin, Isabella, Chloe, & Tristan; and one great-grandchild, Hunter. Additionally, Ken is survived by three siblings: Linda DuRoss & her companion, John Valenti, of Port Henry, NY; Nancy LaMour of Witherbee, NY; and Marlene & Kevin Gadway, of Crown Point, NY; as well as many cousins, nieces, and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Ernest DuRoss and Robert LaMour.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, in Port Henry, NY. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Moriah. A reception for family and friends will then be held at the St. Patrick’s Parish Center.
