Everett "Gene" Eugene Bowen

Everett Eugene Bowen, 76, of Mineville, passed away 

unexpectedly July 5, 2017 at Fletcher Allen Hospital, 

in the arms of his loving family.  Born March 30, 1941, 

in Ironton, OH.  He is predeceased by his loving wife of 

45 years, Susan (Dewyea) Bowen. As well as his parents, 

Oscar and Mabel Bowen; and his brothers, Charles Bowen 

and Herman Bowen.

Gene was an amazing husband and father who adored 

his family.  Although strong and quiet, he generously showed

his love to those close to him.  An avid angler and card 

player extraordinaire, Gene taught his family the value of 

perseverance and hard work.

He graduated from Windsor High School, and afterwards served in the 

US Army from 1960 to 1963.  After retiring from Electric Boat, he then 

went on to work for Essex Industries in Mineville, NY.

Gene is survived by his loving children; Jenny and Kenny Hillman, 

John and Kim Callahan, Steven Bowen, Melaney Bowen and 

Katey (Bowen) Lanphear. Also by his siblings; Erma Lee Dunfee, 

Dorothy Rigney and Jackie Christian. Along with his 11 grandchildren.

Family gathered for a private celebration of his life at their 

home in Mineville, NY.
