Betty Gilbo passed away peacefully at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown, NY on June 25, 2017 at the age of 82.

She was born on July 5, 1934, the daughter of Vincent and Elizabeth (Lloyd) Montbriand in Ticonderoga, NY.

Betty met and married her 1st husband Eugene “Sonny” Lang, whom they lived in Crown Point, NY having 6 children. Upon an unexpected passing of her 1st husband she later met and married J. “Oakley” Gilbo residing in Port Henry, NY, gaining a step-son and having 2 more children with Oakley.

Betty was for many years a homemaker, loving to cook and bake for her family. Betty was also a teacher’s aide at MCS and a personal caretaker for individuals in the local area. She was an avid shopper and crossword puzzler. She loved to read and spend time with family, especially her sister Theresa on their trips to Maine. Betty enjoyed spending time with her good friend Nancy Stone at the Horace Nye. Whenever she passed someone, whether she knew them or not, she always carried a smile and said hello.

Betty is survived by her sister Theresa Montbriand Wood of Schroon Lake, NY; her children, Gene (Sandy) Lang of Hinsdale, NH, Jim Lang of Vero Beach, FL, Deb (George) Celotti of Mineville, NY, Dick (Kathy) Lang of Moriah, NY, Sherry Lang of Crown Point, NY, Scott Gilbo of Witherbee, NY, Vicki (Gary) Sargent of Moriah, NY; step-son Joe (Penny) Gilbo of Ben Salem, Pa; her grandchildren, Janelle (Ed) Guyot of Keene, NH, Trevor (Jeanette) Lang of Swanzey, NH, Deidre Lang of Lisbon, NH, Kristen Lang of Littleton, NH, Matt Lang of Crown Point, NY, Dr. Michael (Courtney) Celotti of Port Henry, NY, Tony (Corinne) Celotti of Moriah, NY, Marci Celotti and Nick Popp of Port Henry, NY, Elizabeth Hanson of Crown Point, NY, Thomas Gilbo of Point Au Fur, NY, Tucker Sargent of Moriah, NY, Julia, Rebbeca, Rachel, Jacob and Brianna Gilbo of Ben Salem, PA; along with 8 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Agnus Montbriand Tangey, husband Oakley Gilbo, son John “Jack” Lang and beloved grandson Corey Lang.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Horace Nye with extra consideration to the aides and nurses of Unit 1 who went above and beyond to make her time there enjoyable and comfortable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Moriah. To leave condolences for the family please visit www.harlandfuneralhome.com
